They use the scorched earth approach to clear the land and amazingly it never gets out of control. They plow, plant, irrigate, weed and harvest.Then start all over again.It takes about seven to eight months growth from planting to harvest. For the irrigation they hoist great metal pipes into the fields all done manually as is most of the work as you can see from the pictures of harvesting and loading the trucks. You will see the odd tractor plowing or rotavating, but mostly it is Carabao that are used for plowing and clearing the land. It's a continuous process all year round with possibly the exception of the month of August with no harvesting. At least that's what we noticed this year with no trucks on the road for at least three weeks (Bliss) this August then towards the end of the month cranes that looked like they had been serviced and painted started appearing at the trans-loading sites.The smaller trucks bring their cane to a trans-loading site and it gets transferred by cranes to the great big trucks that take it to the mills.. And yes they work from DAWN to DUSK.
There is another harvest happening here and that's the one The Philippines Cebu missionaries are engaged in, on the islands of Cebu, Negros and Siquijor. And yes they work from Dawn to Dusk and more.
1 Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.
2 Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.
3 Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work;
4 For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul;
5 And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work
.
6 Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence.
7 Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.
